Things about us

singing out of key

we wear the masks that mother made
shields forged by childhood friends
we lose ourselves in plastic images
displayed in periphery by public machines
they guide us through the expectations
marked by the fragile things we hold
how the torment and longing displays
upon humanities changing face
that we must hide the things held dear
from the weathered ravaging scene
that now we gather in the fields
so hope may rise up through the clouds
