The widening road

her eyes flicker
the green land
lush and rolling
wild lavender hips
all beyond
his cars window
brought to shine and
reflective
the passing
seen
a classic movie show
and the softness held
to your face
all blurred
his world shown
outside
with its riddles
yet untold
mystery
and majesty
monuments
on a distant horizon
white birds of
El Dorado
towarding
hope
the promise
and a song
such crazy joy
a boy’s skipping feet
with laces
undone.

the road to utopia

continuum

the dulling of color
stark scene holds secrets
white bone bridges
the undergrowth
buried
and laid sleeping
through an old woman’s eyes
her scattered
children
like leaves
toss in fitful dream
dancing fragments
of a grander vision
raped branches scream
scratch a broken sky
trawling earth
for green
life in blue waters
beneath
her twitching lid
and the silence
that covers all
held in expectation
held within
your pale skin
fragile tissue
wrapped intentions
and neatly packaged hope
for her life
for spring
everlasting.
