Lay Me Down

green the sky reflected you
as turning there you walked away
dripping minutes cast a shadow
captured the heaviness of day

bright the heat, the desert floor
alone gave off her ghostly haze
pained embrace kept joyful frozen
pacing memories prolonged the gaze

what lines the corners of such thought
as I lay me down tonight
passed the journey, the walking stick
carried tomorrow the waning light
