how bitterness stings blindly

Bitter Waters

peace comes in slices
preciously consumed
savored with every bite
that later leaves such
a bitter sting when
darkness reappears
gnashing little pearls
how hungry you are
to bring all things down
moving through rapacious
thirst for enmity again
how sad the hollows
of your intensity’s gaze.

bedaubed in the blue and purple
residue from the slashing scalpels
that tore the growing cancer from
its home, movement comes slowly
cautious attention leans into
where empty now, beloved parts
once lived, knowing that it was
the essence of who you are that
tried to kill you, mourns the soul
begs forgiveness from the light.
